:: stare stars ::

Staring at my MR tutorial for an hr but not a single word is written. So not motivated. Still got 2 essays to rush but i've not start a single yet... I'm so dead meat within the next 2 weeks....

Went blog surfing instead.. found 2 new Yes933 DJ blogs! Finally know how Ai Wei and Jiafa look like. Didnt expect Ai Wei to look soooo tom-boy but her show in the mornin is very funny when she jokes with Cruz and Peifen. Heard the 2 of them will be hosting the late night show. Interesting combination! Hope it'll be good... coz i only listen to mornin & night shows everyday...

Found tis at Jiafa's blog:

星星王子: 12星座对你的暧昧暗示
水瓶座,双重性格的水瓶们从外表上让人感觉很难接近,反复无常时冷时热的性格导致某些追随者会选择保持距离,水瓶们不妨制造一个让彼此近距离接触的机会,比如故意弄坏他的东西,引起他的注意,等他来索赔或者主动登门道歉,然后很负责地和他继续接触下去。

I would say its near to 100% true. Haha..

Its quite cool to listen to Jiafa's 星星王子 show between 11am -12pm, whenever i have afternoon classes. I like astrology readings.. simply luv to read it everyday. Haha..

:: Teh Toast Egg ::

After sch nothin to do so went shopping, again. But with a purpose. After the lost of my fav jeans, i couldnt get over the fact tat i have 1 less pair jeans so i couldnt help but wanting to buy a new pair. Yeah bought 1 pair tat fits perfectly. So hard to get a perfect fit lor.. must be my lucky day today. On the way home, realised there's a new shop @ BL Mrt....

Couldnt help but to go in to order toast. I luv traditional toast! Plus i always wanted to try Ya Kun Kaya Toast. But main reason is still i luv toast, with half-boiled eggs. Yummmyyyy.....

Verdict: Its delicious! With a hefty price of $4.20 for the set i ordered, i still tink its worth the price. Reason coz the bread are well toasted & buttered, the eggs are perfectly half-boiled and the teh is at the right sweetness & thickness. Especially like the eggs. I've never seen ppl serve poached eggs with kaya toast. Usually its jus boiled eggs, which turns out either entirely not cooked or over-cooked. See how big Ya Kun's eggs turns out? It totally amazes me how they poach it to be so perfectly nice.

This is so goin to be my next fav hang-out... so near my hse. Yipeeeeeee!

:: big bucks comin, soon? ::

I cant rmb when was the last time i bought a decent wallet (2 or 3 yrs?). Normally i jus chuck all my cards & money in a small pouch/purse, so tat i can carry more cards at one time. Lame reason but its my habit. Haha. But recently, i changed my view. 1 of my fav little card wallet, broke my cards. Not one but TWO BANK CARDS... Of all, its my most frequently used cards, most oldest, and most impt cards.... *feeling crappy*

So now i worry my bank cards will stuck in the atm machine when i use it coz there's tis big crack. I'm so lazy to go change 'em...

Well today took some time to go Taka shop for a wallet. Lucky me there was 20% sale. Thought tat i will jus look & not buy but since there's sale.... might as well buy. Haha.. After searching & comparing tons of wallets, finally picked tis pretty one:

Picked it becoz i like its outer design. Looks like a little clutch with the little folds. The prints looks like tat of Gucci, jus tat instead of GG, it was BB (which stands for Balenciaga). Its not a replica! I tink Balenciaga is a sub brand of Bonia (coz the wrapper they gave me was tat of Bonia). The only thing i dun like is tat its not a small wallet. But i cant find any small wallet tat i fancy either. Tink i can live with its size since i always carries a big bag. ^_^

When shoppin, i tink more than 2 pairs of eyes were staring at me. Weekday afternoon not much customers lor. And coz i wear reali casual maybe they scare i'm a theft. Haha.

Now reali broke.. invested nearly all my ang pao money on tis wallet.. hope its a worth-while investment.. So far tis is the most expensive wallet i ever have. Which made me realised, I'm the only one in the family who never owns a branded wallet. Why no one ever buys me a branded wallet?! Hmmm.... mmm... mm.... *ponders*...

Well the wallet is big but if it holds too much cards, it'll be too "fat". But it can hold a lot of notes! Now no money.. in future maybe? *Blah*...

:: Monkeying ::

Decided to change to a brighter skin. Didnt do much editing coz i wana keep the blog simple. Why the monkey? Coz me肖猴. Haha...

Well the wordings also attracted me coz life's pretty much abt making choices everyday. ^_^

Took a lot of flowery photos lately. Or rather, i've been taking a lot of photos! But am too lazy to upload them onto the computer. Will do so when the mood comes. Haha. Realised its been years since i last develop photos out physically... Used to like it but now i find it troublesome & i dont like to display photos in my room. Its such a hassle to dust the photos frames. But even so, i still like to take lots of photos. Haha...

I'm contradicting myself. -_-'''

:: 2 in a row ::

1st time watched 2 movies jus a day apart. CNY is really getting bored lor. Nowadays hardly go visiting coz its bored staring at the elders chat and i jus sit there watch their tv or munch their cny goodies. So decided to watch 2 movies to kill the boredem. 1st watched was Kung Fu Dunk on Thur.

Leaving aside the fact i'm watching this movie because there is Jay Chou, who's my fav singer (not much of fav actor, yet), I seriously like the movie as a whole. Plus also among all sports, i only understands basketball the most, watch basketball tournaments the most, and its the only sports i dun hate playing. Haha...

Many ppl commented its a copy of Slam Dunk, but i dun reali c any similarity in the story line lor. Both r basketball related of coz there r similar dunking moves. I mean how many diff styles can a little orange ball be dunk?

Though the story circles ard Jay mostly, i tink the other actors did their role very well. Eric Tsang as the shrewd businessman really got tat 欠扁脸. Charlene Choi though not much scenes, fits into character well enuf to be understood. Well i guess she is jus the 'flower' in the movie. Cannot all men mah. Haha.. The other two main characters, Chen Bo Ling & Baron Chen, lacks a life story, though their acting skills aint tat bad. The script-writer could have give more justice to all the other characters. Other than Jay with a full storyline of how he grew up, the rest jus started, w/o a 'beginning'. How Eric Tsang became a shrewd? What caused Chen Bo Ling to be so down? Why the hell got a scene (with no lines) of Baron Chen losing his lover when nothin was mentioned in the beginning? How Charlene fell in love with Baron? The movie would have a better review by the movie critics if its storyline is more full.

Have to give a round of applause to all the actors who did the amazing dunking moves thru-out the show. Bascially i take this movie more of a comedy coz I practically laughed through-out. Seriously i've never seen Jay been so funny lor. Not to forget the reali cool Kung Fu moves too! So throwing the fact tat too much focus is on Jay (which i seriously dun mind. haha), i tink all the actors worked well together, making the whole movie good enuf to be one of my fav movies. And i liked Kung Fu Dunk more, after watch CJ7....

Watched CJ7 on Fri. The movie started not bad. Heartwarming and funny. Than starting frm mid of the show to ending, its like fast forwarding the whole movie. In other words... lots of missing links. Though both Dunk & CJ7 have many missing links, personally i tink, Dunk's missing links are jus the beginning explanation of each character so even dun have i can still live with it, but CJ7 missing links are mainly the ending, so w/o them the show turns out weird.

How 七仔 returns after it was thrown into the rubbish truck? Why the teacher was crying at the doorstep but when Chow returns, nothin was mentioned wat happened to the teacher later. Why no scenes of how Chow revives frm death at the hospital? Before i could even think of wat is happening, the movie ended with the little ailen dead, than Chow & son continued to live as per norm. It reali got me thinkin, if this show is abt living with dignity even if u are poor, than wats the purpose of the little ailen tat can only perform 2 magic stunts before switching to 'sleep' mode? Moreover, the 2 stunts performed r kinda norm. If i'm the director, i'll jus omit the ailen and give the human characters more scenes & lines.

Personally, i tink CJ7 would be a good show if its more than 100mins long & not jus 88mins. The heartwarmin parts didnt reali touch me tat much coz its onli focusing on one pt: Live with dignity even if u are poor. But the thing is, the boy (or rather the little gal actress), didnt really misbehave becoz he is poor le, except change the exam score frm 0 to 100 or fighting with the bullies. Cant seems to link the misbehave parts to the "live with dignity" part.

I got bored ard mid to end of the movie. Kinda disappointed tat the movie doesnt have much story. Among all Chow's movie, tis one reali boreds me. Nevertheless, the little actress performs truly well. So funny whenever she acts silly.

So in my own pt of view, Dunk's director takes a switch frm filming artistic film to kung fu film and results not bad. CJ7 director takes a switch frm filming super comedy to heartwarmin film and results norm. I believe anyone who likes Jay or basketball, would totally luv Kung Fu Dunk. Anyone who like cute ailen film tat's heartwarming, will like CJ7. For me, its the prior ^_^

:: Its a period of celebrations - Part 2 ::

One week is over, jus like tat. Last Fri & Sat was so shacked coz MD wanted me to be 1 of her bridesmaids. Day 1 (which is the fri), is actually a dinner for her family & the bridesmaids. Its definitely my 1st time dining in a posh restaurant! Looking at all the dining utensils on the table already makes me confused. I've never attended any training on fine dining! Well i jus pick up any fork, knife & spoon.. cant be bothered since i'm not on a date. Hahaha...

Day 2 is the her actual customary ceremony + the banquet. 2 words... super tired! Due to the fact day 1 i hardly slept, day 2 i got up at 4:30am. Yes slept at 1am, got up at 4:30am. Amazingly i wasnt feelin tired at the pt i got up... it was till the draggy afternoon ceremony tat every1 starts to 'collapse', literally.

DAY 1: The Posh Dining
Frankly speaking, its an eye opening experience. 1st of all its my 1st time stayin overnight in a SG hotel, its my 1st time 'camping' overnight as a bridesmaid, its my 1st time dining at a posh restaurant, 1st time eating 2 wedding dinners consecutively and finally, my 1st time giving double red packets... the only not '1st' is tis is my 2nd time been a bridesmaid. Hahaha.

The hotel room the bride prepared is super nice! Just look at the photos! I tink the only pity is the groom doesnt have a chance to sleep in it. Hehehe...

[The Bride & Bridesmaid Room... Spacious hotel room @ Mandarin Oriental!]

[The bride's Family & Bridesmaid dinner]

[First 3 dishes!!!!]

[More Food!!!!]

[The Dessert, Pina Colada]

The dinner... I've never eaten so many courses during a western dining lor.. max ard 3 to 4 courses? This bride's dinner have 7 courses! Well the food really look gorgeously prepared, except the taste... need some improvements. I duno if its meant to be, but most of the dishes tasted too salty, except the dessert, which aint better coz it was too sweet! (for me only la coz the rest seems to find the sweetness ok)

I tink i dun reali suit western posh dining. 1stly the problem with the confusing utensils. Than the serving portion is reali, ermmm, hard to eat. The bread was in such a big portion but its too hard to use a knife to cut in pieces so i had to use my hand to tear, which is not pretty action. The tomato & mushroom soup served in a little liqour glass, surposely to 'sip' with a little teaspoon, is a disaster to me. So after much annoyance by the slow 'sipping', i decided its best to dump tat spoon & jus 'drink' frm the glass. The beef, is so hard to cut coz the whole chuck of meat jus rolls ard coz its, well, kinda round.

Among all the dishes, only the bread & cod fish is of my liking. Tomato soup, too little to taste it. The mushrooms, ok normal. Lobster soup, its awful coz all i could taste is salt. Beef, kinda too raw though it tasted ok. I'll prefer a less bloodly meat. Would be good if the chef ask us how we want the beef done before cookin it. Finally, the dessert is all sugar & coconut. By the time i reach the dessert, i gave up on it. My taste bud needs a rest!

Its not a big restaurant (i tink JP mac is bigger than it?) but i duno y the waiters kept running ard & r super busy. And its super weird to c ppl dining in the private corners eating in the dark, literally. One tiny tealight candle is all a table has. Its so dark i cant even c the faces of the people. Duno how they eat somethin they cant c?! Food.. eh pretty but so so. Overall i still enjoyed the dinner coz of the good company i was with. We all had fun criticising the food & laughing at the jokes.

After a bath, its brain-storming our gate-crush evil plans! Actually we already pre-planned everythin but end up most of it we last min cant use coz many ingrediants nobody bought! So 2 babes were assigned to go 7-11 to buy watever we can use. I must say the 2 babes r smart. 1st they bought butter & created a butter-wasabi-coffee 'tiramisu'. Than they bought all kinds of soft drinks & mixed each with coffee to create a 'wake-up' drink. But ar, they spent the whole night 'cooking' & 'mixing' which in turn caused me to lost my sleep coz i was sleepin near the area they r 'working' at. So la tats y whole night i didnt sleep! -_-'''

DAY 2: The Customary Ceremony & Banquet
Early mornin the bride's makeup artist called at 4:30am. My patience ended at that pt. Was struggling to sleep but with all the noise & new environment, reali cant sleep. So upon hearing the call, i gave up the sleep struggle & decided to jus 'wake up'. Than the whole event jus kicks in... the bride's parents came with breakfast, the makeup artist came, the photographer came, everyone else woke up... its a mess coz every1 is rushin to prepare themselves!

[Morning breakfast brought by the bride's parents... so many kinds of pastries!!!!]

Lucky for me i got enuf time (i got up sooooo early) to eat breakfast, change & makeup. Actually i didnt c the whole gate crash happenings coz i was in the room with the bride. Havent got a chance to view the video taken too... but it must be funny coz i know they got the groom & best man to wear plastic bags over their head, drink the 'wake-up' drink, eat the look nice but taste terrible butter-wasabi-coffee tiramisu... and also the most yucky eat the raw onions & garlics. Too evil tat i dun tink i got the guts to get them to do it. So i rather stay with the bride be the good bridesmaid. Haha...

After the gate-crash, we all head to the groom's house. We arrived at 9am but after 2 to 3 hrs of long waiting, every1 of us cannot tahan liaoz. A surposely to start at 11am tea ceremony, couldnt start coz all the elder relatives havent come! *Diaoz*... but lucky the newly weds 'released' all the bestman & bridesmaid to go home 1st. I was the last batch to leave.. left at 1pm! One word... TIRED! Rushed home changed & unpack than took a good nice 2hrs nap. The nap reali saved me lor. Tink if i didnt sleep, i couldnt endure till the banquet at night liaoz.

The banquet was held at Dragon Gate @ Habourfront. My 2nd time dining there! And its such a coincidence tat the 1st time i dine there was durin my 1st time as a bridesmaid. So i havent eat at the banquet tis day, i already know the food is good. Haha..

[My bag... handle decorated with the bridesmaid hand flower, handmade by the groom!]

[The money box...so big. hahaha]

Basically i like all the food served! I'm a rowdy person so i'm fine with not eating at a high class hotel ballroom or the food is not arranged super classy. I tink i got tis bo chap character after attending tons of wedding banquets. Been 1 of the youngest 3rd generation in the family (i tink i rank 4th or 5th youngest, frm the last, with over 100 relatives -_-), attending at least 1 banquet a yr has become a family tradition. Haha... I've seen & eaten best, norm, lousy & worse so i've come to a verdict: So long it taste good, portion is big enuf for every1 in the table & i can eat happily, i'll enjoy any wedding banquet. A good wedding means all the guest are happy & full.

I tink i ate a lot. Haha.. At least more than 1 serving per dish? But i sort of missed the Prawn & Broccoli coz i went off to help the bride change her clothes. Oh well at least i get to eat 1 piece of prawn & broccoli coz JN helped me reserved. Hehe. Recalling wat i had.. hmm.. there's Cold dish, Sharks Fin, Prawn & Broccoli, Lemon Fried Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom, Steam Goupa, Ee-fu noodles and Mango Sago with Milk. Everythin is served in a big portion! All tasted good. Not too salty nor too sweet. I like! Hehe.

Well the onli disappointment is the dessert is not my fav, Yam paste. I've 2 more weddings tis year.. i tink 1 of them is serving yam paste as dessert. Woohoo! Than again, pocket gona burn a bigger hole lor.. aiya why every1 married on the same year! Tis is is the most number of weddings i'm attending.. -_-'''

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Planned to bake all the CNY cookies on monday but i was too darn exhausted by the fri & sat tat i decided to split my baking into 2 days. So 3 days be4 CNY i was still busy with all the preparation...

[My CNY cookies...Pineapple tarts & Almond tarts]

[My 'standard' CNY cookies.. Cornflake cookies!]

As usual, made pineapple tarts & cornflake cookies. The 2 new ones are Almond tarts & Coco-pops crisps. Mum wanted me to make walnut cookies but i am soooooooooo lazy & tired. I tink i finally get the hand of makin crispy cookies tat's not too hard. Quite happy with my new coco-pops crisps. It tasted sooo nice! So far the guests responds better to my pineapple tarts & Coco-pops crisps. Hehe. Well i like my cornflakes cookies coz its the least sweet among all i've made.

But i kinda hate it when peps wants me make for them. Its a tiring process tat i'll prefer not to go thru. Fact is i'm lazy de lor. Lucky mum always help me turn down the requests. Seriously i dun mind sharing the receipe but making for them is a no no. *grin*

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My fav jeans couldnt make it thru the new CNY. So sad.. The stupid washin machine 'bite' off a big chunk of material frm my jeans.. Really look like a dog bite lor...

[My ke lian pants.. torn...]

Cried literally lor... coz the jeans was a bday gift frm my buddies. Haiz.. mum promised she'll alter it to be a shorts. But still i'm sad. The only comfort i give myself is i can buy a new pair of jeans.. I hate tat washin machine lor.. older than me, so noisy & cant wash clothes. Hope mum keeps to her promise of gettin a new one after CNY.. sooner or later i'll trash tat washing machine...

:: Its a period of celebrations ::

Last week passes so fast lor.. busy with meeting up with frenz for my bday, spring clean, lect everyday(mornin lect everyday!), worked for 2 days, attended 3 wedding dinners, make deliveries for the bags ppl order... every single day were fully utilised.. shack like hell lor.. physically ok.. but mentally.. bery de exhausted...

Took the time to finally download all the pics taken lately. Than i realised i've actually taken too little photos durin the wedding dinners. Coz too tired? But one thing also coz on the weddings they have pro photographers. So i left it to the pros to take most of the pics. Can 'steal' the photos when the newly weds send to me. Hehehe..

(Updated on 02/08) 29th Jan: Bday celebration with bestest buddies grp 1
Celebrated my bday with the newly wed Mrs Sng & the rest of the gals i attended her wedding with. Dine at Breeks @ MS. I always wanted to try Breeks! The food was delicious. (i sorta forget to take pics, again. Forgetfulness is getting worse. Hahaha...) The babes got me a yummy mango cake, topped with a cheery bday song sang by the Breeks staff:

Well the cake turn out to be the 1st & only bday cake i have tis yr. Family decided i've enuf of cakes so parents only treat me to a bday dinner. So end up, i still didnt get a mix fruit cake for my bday. Haiz was kinda looking forward to my fav prima deli cake... -_-'''

Aged again.. shucks i cant believe i'm reaching THE THREE soon...

27th Jan: Mr & Mrs Sng Wedding
Tis is the 2nd wedding i've attended on my own! Its also my 1st time dining at Novotel Hotel. The ambience there is reali romantic & high class. The ballroom is located at 6th floor, way at the corner. So onli those invited to attend the wedding will walk thru the area. Reali very nice! Its like having a private banquet w/o outside disturbance. Its also very cool tat the cocktail area is outside the ballroom, beside the reception area. Got tis high class feel...

[The wedding venue.. 1st time @ Novotel Hotel!]

[The reception area. Has a very romantic feel]

[The cocktail area... ambience is good!]

[Slide show! The newly wed's 'historical' photos & wedding photos]

[Ooo.. THE FOOD menu...]

[Wedding Cake.. Lovely! But its fake.. hahaha]

[Babes I attended the wed with]

[The Pretty Bride! 1st time i c her so pretty! Haha...]

[The newly wed, Mr & Mrs Sng! Congratulations!]

Most unforgetable thing: Serving of the 1st dish, the cold plate.
The restaurant got the waiters & waitresses to dance into the ballroom. Reali very cute! All of us had a big laugh coz its very comical to c them hold the dish & dance along with the music. So creative!

Most dissatisfied thing: Lousy service by the waiters & waitresses
I would prefer the refills of the drink to be done promptly, & i can find a waiter or waitress to ask for refills even when they wont do it on their own.

I get unhapi when dishes are served too slow but clearing of the unfinished plates are fast. The weirdest thing tat happened was when duno which waiter, cleared my friens' plates (yes 2 ppl & not jus 1), together with the untouched chicken on their plate, while we were cheers-ing to the newly weds. I was lucky to 'escape' the 'misfortunate' coz i ate fast enuf to clear my chicken be4 the cheers-ing. Haha. But still.. i tink its basic manners to ask if the guest still wan the food be4 clearing their plates? Or rather, its common sense to not clear the guest's plate when u c tat their food is untouched.

Than twice the waiter dropped the dirty plates on the floor while clearing the table. But lucky non of the guest kena hit by the fallen plates, else it will be disastrous.

Basically i tink they r seriously are shorthanded -_-'''

Most fav dish: Roast Crispy Chicken, Ee-Fu noodles & Cream of Mango
Chicken... I tink its the dish i ate most. Abt 2 to 3 pieces i tink. The other guests sitting at my table seems pai se to take the food so i helped myself instead. Haha... Well i like the way the chicken is cooked. Roasted till crispy but not burnt. Than its topped with super delicious deep-fried garlic, shallot & chilli. Superb! At 1st bite, i almost thought i'm eating the roasted verison of KFC, tat's not oily. Hahaha...

Noodles... Its delicious! Kinda sad the waiter onli serve very little on my plate & its weird tat he left a super big remaining portion. We havent even eat 2nd serving he took the plate away! Awwww..... why waste good food?!

Dessert... The taste was perfect. The cream base was not too sweet, the mango was not sour, the pomelo was slightly bitter but i tink is meant to be as such. Haiz wanted to eat 2nd bowl but my frienz wana leave. Shucks...

Most dislike dishes: Shark's fin & Garoupa
Shark fin soup.... hmmm... i tink i'm drinking water.. i guess with the No-Killing of sharks for shark-fin campaign going on world-wide lately, the restuarant has decided to 'remove' the sharks-fin frm the soup, together with the rest of the ingrediants... If i ever get married, i tink i will omit out sharks-fin soup & replace it with another soup. At least confirm wont encounter sharks-fin soup with no sharks-fin...

The Garoupa... hmmm.. we all agreed its, uncooked... barely could tear the meat away frm the bone. I tink the chef is afraid we will get hungry frm the long waiting...

Verdict of the whole banquet:
The ambience was really good but the banquet was slightly of a disappointment due to a few bad pts of the food & service. I'll prefer not to waste food & i'll be feeling full by the end of the banquet. I tink if the last 2 dishes, the noodles & dessert, i could eat another serving or two, i will feel full. Hahaha... Haiz good food wasted down the drain..
