:: Its a period of celebrations - Part 2 ::

One week is over, jus like tat. Last Fri & Sat was so shacked coz MD wanted me to be 1 of her bridesmaids. Day 1 (which is the fri), is actually a dinner for her family & the bridesmaids. Its definitely my 1st time dining in a posh restaurant! Looking at all the dining utensils on the table already makes me confused. I've never attended any training on fine dining! Well i jus pick up any fork, knife & spoon.. cant be bothered since i'm not on a date. Hahaha...

Day 2 is the her actual customary ceremony + the banquet. 2 words... super tired! Due to the fact day 1 i hardly slept, day 2 i got up at 4:30am. Yes slept at 1am, got up at 4:30am. Amazingly i wasnt feelin tired at the pt i got up... it was till the draggy afternoon ceremony tat every1 starts to 'collapse', literally.

DAY 1: The Posh Dining
Frankly speaking, its an eye opening experience. 1st of all its my 1st time stayin overnight in a SG hotel, its my 1st time 'camping' overnight as a bridesmaid, its my 1st time dining at a posh restaurant, 1st time eating 2 wedding dinners consecutively and finally, my 1st time giving double red packets... the only not '1st' is tis is my 2nd time been a bridesmaid. Hahaha.

The hotel room the bride prepared is super nice! Just look at the photos! I tink the only pity is the groom doesnt have a chance to sleep in it. Hehehe...

[The Bride & Bridesmaid Room... Spacious hotel room @ Mandarin Oriental!]

[The bride's Family & Bridesmaid dinner]

[First 3 dishes!!!!]

[More Food!!!!]

[The Dessert, Pina Colada]

The dinner... I've never eaten so many courses during a western dining lor.. max ard 3 to 4 courses? This bride's dinner have 7 courses! Well the food really look gorgeously prepared, except the taste... need some improvements. I duno if its meant to be, but most of the dishes tasted too salty, except the dessert, which aint better coz it was too sweet! (for me only la coz the rest seems to find the sweetness ok)

I tink i dun reali suit western posh dining. 1stly the problem with the confusing utensils. Than the serving portion is reali, ermmm, hard to eat. The bread was in such a big portion but its too hard to use a knife to cut in pieces so i had to use my hand to tear, which is not pretty action. The tomato & mushroom soup served in a little liqour glass, surposely to 'sip' with a little teaspoon, is a disaster to me. So after much annoyance by the slow 'sipping', i decided its best to dump tat spoon & jus 'drink' frm the glass. The beef, is so hard to cut coz the whole chuck of meat jus rolls ard coz its, well, kinda round.

Among all the dishes, only the bread & cod fish is of my liking. Tomato soup, too little to taste it. The mushrooms, ok normal. Lobster soup, its awful coz all i could taste is salt. Beef, kinda too raw though it tasted ok. I'll prefer a less bloodly meat. Would be good if the chef ask us how we want the beef done before cookin it. Finally, the dessert is all sugar & coconut. By the time i reach the dessert, i gave up on it. My taste bud needs a rest!

Its not a big restaurant (i tink JP mac is bigger than it?) but i duno y the waiters kept running ard & r super busy. And its super weird to c ppl dining in the private corners eating in the dark, literally. One tiny tealight candle is all a table has. Its so dark i cant even c the faces of the people. Duno how they eat somethin they cant c?! Food.. eh pretty but so so. Overall i still enjoyed the dinner coz of the good company i was with. We all had fun criticising the food & laughing at the jokes.

After a bath, its brain-storming our gate-crush evil plans! Actually we already pre-planned everythin but end up most of it we last min cant use coz many ingrediants nobody bought! So 2 babes were assigned to go 7-11 to buy watever we can use. I must say the 2 babes r smart. 1st they bought butter & created a butter-wasabi-coffee 'tiramisu'. Than they bought all kinds of soft drinks & mixed each with coffee to create a 'wake-up' drink. But ar, they spent the whole night 'cooking' & 'mixing' which in turn caused me to lost my sleep coz i was sleepin near the area they r 'working' at. So la tats y whole night i didnt sleep! -_-'''

DAY 2: The Customary Ceremony & Banquet
Early mornin the bride's makeup artist called at 4:30am. My patience ended at that pt. Was struggling to sleep but with all the noise & new environment, reali cant sleep. So upon hearing the call, i gave up the sleep struggle & decided to jus 'wake up'. Than the whole event jus kicks in... the bride's parents came with breakfast, the makeup artist came, the photographer came, everyone else woke up... its a mess coz every1 is rushin to prepare themselves!

[Morning breakfast brought by the bride's parents... so many kinds of pastries!!!!]

Lucky for me i got enuf time (i got up sooooo early) to eat breakfast, change & makeup. Actually i didnt c the whole gate crash happenings coz i was in the room with the bride. Havent got a chance to view the video taken too... but it must be funny coz i know they got the groom & best man to wear plastic bags over their head, drink the 'wake-up' drink, eat the look nice but taste terrible butter-wasabi-coffee tiramisu... and also the most yucky eat the raw onions & garlics. Too evil tat i dun tink i got the guts to get them to do it. So i rather stay with the bride be the good bridesmaid. Haha...

After the gate-crash, we all head to the groom's house. We arrived at 9am but after 2 to 3 hrs of long waiting, every1 of us cannot tahan liaoz. A surposely to start at 11am tea ceremony, couldnt start coz all the elder relatives havent come! *Diaoz*... but lucky the newly weds 'released' all the bestman & bridesmaid to go home 1st. I was the last batch to leave.. left at 1pm! One word... TIRED! Rushed home changed & unpack than took a good nice 2hrs nap. The nap reali saved me lor. Tink if i didnt sleep, i couldnt endure till the banquet at night liaoz.

The banquet was held at Dragon Gate @ Habourfront. My 2nd time dining there! And its such a coincidence tat the 1st time i dine there was durin my 1st time as a bridesmaid. So i havent eat at the banquet tis day, i already know the food is good. Haha..

[My bag... handle decorated with the bridesmaid hand flower, handmade by the groom!]

[The money box...so big. hahaha]

Basically i like all the food served! I'm a rowdy person so i'm fine with not eating at a high class hotel ballroom or the food is not arranged super classy. I tink i got tis bo chap character after attending tons of wedding banquets. Been 1 of the youngest 3rd generation in the family (i tink i rank 4th or 5th youngest, frm the last, with over 100 relatives -_-), attending at least 1 banquet a yr has become a family tradition. Haha... I've seen & eaten best, norm, lousy & worse so i've come to a verdict: So long it taste good, portion is big enuf for every1 in the table & i can eat happily, i'll enjoy any wedding banquet. A good wedding means all the guest are happy & full.

I tink i ate a lot. Haha.. At least more than 1 serving per dish? But i sort of missed the Prawn & Broccoli coz i went off to help the bride change her clothes. Oh well at least i get to eat 1 piece of prawn & broccoli coz JN helped me reserved. Hehe. Recalling wat i had.. hmm.. there's Cold dish, Sharks Fin, Prawn & Broccoli, Lemon Fried Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom, Steam Goupa, Ee-fu noodles and Mango Sago with Milk. Everythin is served in a big portion! All tasted good. Not too salty nor too sweet. I like! Hehe.

Well the onli disappointment is the dessert is not my fav, Yam paste. I've 2 more weddings tis year.. i tink 1 of them is serving yam paste as dessert. Woohoo! Than again, pocket gona burn a bigger hole lor.. aiya why every1 married on the same year! Tis is is the most number of weddings i'm attending.. -_-'''

Planned to bake all the CNY cookies on monday but i was too darn exhausted by the fri & sat tat i decided to split my baking into 2 days. So 3 days be4 CNY i was still busy with all the preparation...

[My CNY cookies...Pineapple tarts & Almond tarts]

[My 'standard' CNY cookies.. Cornflake cookies!]

As usual, made pineapple tarts & cornflake cookies. The 2 new ones are Almond tarts & Coco-pops crisps. Mum wanted me to make walnut cookies but i am soooooooooo lazy & tired. I tink i finally get the hand of makin crispy cookies tat's not too hard. Quite happy with my new coco-pops crisps. It tasted sooo nice! So far the guests responds better to my pineapple tarts & Coco-pops crisps. Hehe. Well i like my cornflakes cookies coz its the least sweet among all i've made.

But i kinda hate it when peps wants me make for them. Its a tiring process tat i'll prefer not to go thru. Fact is i'm lazy de lor. Lucky mum always help me turn down the requests. Seriously i dun mind sharing the receipe but making for them is a no no. *grin*

My fav jeans couldnt make it thru the new CNY. So sad.. The stupid washin machine 'bite' off a big chunk of material frm my jeans.. Really look like a dog bite lor...

[My ke lian pants.. torn...]

Cried literally lor... coz the jeans was a bday gift frm my buddies. Haiz.. mum promised she'll alter it to be a shorts. But still i'm sad. The only comfort i give myself is i can buy a new pair of jeans.. I hate tat washin machine lor.. older than me, so noisy & cant wash clothes. Hope mum keeps to her promise of gettin a new one after CNY.. sooner or later i'll trash tat washing machine...
